So instead of the usual down-scaling to 1280² and then up-scaling with waifu2x, i sliced the parent post in individual pieces of 1000² per tile. Then i up-scaled each tile and put them back together again.
The quality of this method amazing! I was even able to upscale the new image again to a whopping 8K resolution, without loosing too much detail! (blush lines on Lotte's face/pubic hair of the guy/text on the lube bottle)
As a personal preference i changed the colors a bit to make it look like the light is on in the room ^^

I really don't appreciate that kinda stuff. I have to admit the algorithm is great, but do we really need huge ass resizing on here?

Have to admit, that's some pretty sharp detail.

Were you trying to blow this up for a poster or something?

This was merely a test to see if it's possible. It's a one time thing. Don't worry.

Now that you say it, that's also a possibility. But i don't see why you would want poster of this kinda of work o-o

I'm just a little peeved because I have a lot of "blown up" duplicates being posted recently.

Also, you have to overlap the borders more. inspecting it at 100% already I can tell where the crop was.

To be fair, it's a really, really good resize. The quality is just amazing. Which goes back to me asking - specifically - what method Galinoa used. Like, chopping it up into 1000 tiles? I can't believe this.

I'll try to make the tutorial into one image. A video would take too long. I'm not the best teacher you know.

Only divide the original image in 4 parts and upscale individually, then open Photoshop, create a new image (ctrl+n) put the new dimmensions and copy/paste the images in the "new image".

Well this is basically what i did. Though i must say, this doesn't work well with every image imho. This particular image worked really well because it had some thicker lines for the character. If the lines are too small, it will only make em look smudgy on the outcome.
