And while you wouldn't be wrong, I was still implying on the underhand that this video inspired a impression of stereotypical origin. I doubt your common fan thinks that blindly shooting with guns with partial rhythmic firing while dancing to a overused song is particularly apt homage to one of the better series released within the last 15 years.
My first impression was of Japanese military otaku, actually. The airsoft scene is pretty big over there, ya know. They may not be able to own real firearms over there, but there is a subculture that really enjoys the mechanics and the aesthetic of it. (And also the simple joy of shooting your buddies in the ass, I'd imagine.)
I have a half-Japanese friend who's threatened to nail me with his airsoft gun on several occasions. Haha~
(At one point he was actually surrounded by armed policemen when someone reported doing a mock battle in the park. He's... admittedly not a terribly bright person, but he keeps you on your toes with one life threatening incident after another.)
