WebM is an audio-video container format designed to provide royalty-free, open video compression for use with HTML5 video.
It is supported in all modern browsers, except perhaps the mighty Internet Explorer and Safari.
Here the format is currently being used as an advanced form of animated GIF (meaning only videos with no sound, under 25mb in size and below 3 minutes in length) - for now at least.
