fertilization »

Fertilization is the process by which an egg cell (ovum) and a sperm join. Once fertilized, the egg will generally begin to multiply and grow into a new organism. Though in real life any number of events could prevent a fertilized egg from implanting in the wall of the uterus and continuing to grow, when fertilization occurs in art, it is generally assumed to result in pregnancy.

Generally fertilization in a separate inset panel, as a cross section in which one or more sperm are approaching or reaching an egg. The amount of detail and realism vary wildly.

This tag should only be used on pictures that actually involve the moment of fertilization, and not just on pictures of sex that might (or do) result in pregnancy. For pictures involving getting pregnant that don't directly involve the egg's fertilization, see impregnation. For simple unprotected sex that could potentially result in pregnancy, see nakadashi.
