How did this bayonetta whore get into Smash bros so easily?!
I am glad she is only DLC. You can't just put any slapbag in Smash Bros. They need to have a long history in Gaming.

Wow, a Tumblr post, here?

Who'd have thunk it?

Gotta say, apart from anything else, she IS a rated-M character in a rated-E (?) game. :| I don't really know what she's doing in there, either; you'd think just her mere presence in it would bump the game's age rating up past its intended demographic (assuming the mlg folks who've been playing it since the 80's are the periphery).

While I see your concerns, Wastrel (for lack of a more obvious shortening, pardon), the biggest sign of progress is the ESRB--who usually breathe down Nintendo's neck like a stalker in the night--had fully approved of the addition in content.
Bayonetta is well-crafted to the point where those in opposition give way to her position in Smash Brothers, and that's what really draws attention more than her game and it's original rating.

Completely new lines without recycling more than the script from the game, original model/skeleton/textures and effects, as well as appropriate interaction dialogue and driven combat mechanics that were approved by Platinum Games themselves... The only thing really needing any particular complaint is the choice made not to include other iconic characters.

> progress

...She's an adult-oriented character in an ostensibly child-oriented game, and half of her shtick is that she fuels her powers by losing her clothes (simplification, but you know what I'm talking about). What, pray tell, are we progressing towards in this particular example of the term?

I'm not sure I'd buy the suggestion that they're thinking of rebranding her outright to be a more family-friendly character, either; I remember hearing her creator's only real opinion on the porn he knew people were making of her was that he was disappointed they kept putting her in submissive positions when she's clearly a dominatrix.

The biggest progression is towards the understanding that this sort of innate, pronounced sexuality has it's place in the modern society of gaming. Bayonetta is over the top, and quite honestly one of my favorite examples of why people should listen to the gods damned ESRB ratings--but that doesn't mean she's not fit to be in a beat-em-up that progressed from E to Teen faster than an elf's ability to pick up on lewd things.

I'm not sorry for that reference.

Regardless, Nintendo should be smart enough to have no such need to censor a character such as Bayonetta down to "family friendly", because a M for Mature game shouldn't be in the hands of anyone who's got children young enough to be affected by it; this is personal judgement, and Nintendo doesn't really have the right to make that call FOR the consumer. A lot of people love to bleat on about Nintendo's history, but all it really proves is that people aren't familiar with how hard the industry is to change.

The game revolves around lovable characters that beat the shit out of each other for shits and giggles, and you're worried about putting a dominatrix in the mix? You're hilarious.

Anyways, welcome to SankakuComplex, Fipp. Enjoy your stay.
