I am using it quite regularly, but often enough it misses some posts. Is there any possibility to hide specific parent + child posts? Like -parent:<number>. That would help to keep the overview too, if I'm sorting through a specific artist tag.
Btw. How similar works "find similar" in comparison to iqdb.org?
steinkauz, I made a userscript for your purpose a while ago.
See http://chan.sankakucomplex.com/forum/show/568
Maybe you want to try it out.
Find similar is based on our own local instance of IQDB we set up with their assistance. So the results are very similar but we made some minor enhancements along the way such as tying it in to the live posts database and regenerating it with the latest preview imagery.
We could do a -parent: but I think it would be fairly useless to exclude half a dozen from a tag search. Grouping up parents in the rests seems a better approach but is probably not possible witohut causing absolute chaos in the ordering.
Well, if you have an artist/tag with 500 posts and from these 500 posts you have atleast 50-150 parentable posts, it's a pain in the ass to do it quite efficiently. I mean I could use -tag to get rid of some posts which I already sorted out, but not every post is tagged in a way that would be a good use.
I hope I could clarify it a bit.
Are these not helping then:
parent:any
Search only for posts that have parents.
parent:none
Search for posts that have no parent.
has_children:true / false
Search only for posts that either have or don't have children.

These are indeed helping! Especially parent:none
I am running out of tag subscription space any time soon.
Can you somehow increase it? Would be much appreciated.
What are you interested in seeing increased?

More groups would be great.
It has been increased.
Edit Tag Subscriptions
You can create up to 16 groups and each group can have up to 20 tags.
Many thanks!
You may update this information too.
Just throwing out some ideas that I have...no idea how they might be implemented or anything though.
-Add the highlights to the "Find Similar" function to show if there are any favorited already.
-Show a total number of results for composite searches at the top so the number of pages can be known beforehand.
-Make a button to go to the next lower/higher number post while viewing a picture.
-Make a button to go to the next lower/higher post in a search scheme (ex. While in favorites).
-Allow searching for more than 5 tags at once.
Tag Blacklist Suggestion:
Rather than just blurring the blacklisted tags, how about removing their entries entirely so a user wouldn't potentially have to still go through pages upon pages of blacklisted items that are just blurred thumbnails. Just seems like it'd be a bit more convenient.
That would be the same as inserting a negative tag search. It isn't feasible for the same reason there are limits on how many tags can be searched and so forth, unfortunately.
We now have the following new features, most of which were suggestions:
1. approver: / -approver
Searches for posts approved or not approved by a user. Thanks to newly minted janitor Steinkauz for this suggestion.
2. -fav:
Negative counterpart to fav: searching.
3. -file_type:
Negative file type searching.
4. Your own favorites now show against posts on user/show and find similar. Thanks to Scevenex for reminding us. Only the pools interface should be without highlights now.
5. Exact file size in bytes now included as a tool tip over the original file res/size entry in the post/show stats panel. Good for comparing duplicates. Thank you again Steinkauz!
6. Post flags should in all cases be properly cleared when approved and the action links are better presented for moderating users. Appeals probably work.
Thanks for adding it, now I can improve some of my approvals!
Other suggestions:
1. More statistics for http://chan.sankakucomplex.com/user/index
Posts deleted
Posts permanently deleted
Posts parented (to split them from tag edits)
Approvals
Posts flagged
Flagged posts
Don't now if they are realisable, but I would like to see more stats! If someone else has ideas for more stats, please add them somewhere in this thread.
2. Can you add to the 'Details' section in a post the Approver:name even if the approver was a contributorlevel+? Reason, you can't know everyones level. And we have around 200 people who won't show up.
I guess no one needs these suggestion except me. :[

how about also being able to favor pools and have stats for favorite pools.
1. I don't think we want any more statistics on the user index... it has rather a lot of information there already, any more and it will likely be completely overwhelming. Tag translations submitted is the likeliest addition.
2. I think you misunderstood something. Any contributor will see the approver field. If there is no approver it is because it was uploaded by a user whose uploads are approved automatically, as is the case with any contributor or above. In these cases only a flag clearance will yield an approver for the post.
Some sort of expanded favoriting for tags, pools and the like is under consideration, thanks darklinks.
If there is no approver it is because it was uploaded by a user whose uploads are approved automatically, [...]
I knew that, yet still my brain couldn't get that my suggestion was already there, just invisible. Basicly my idea was just for consistent reasons. Now I feel a bit stupid.
It isn't there because they were never "approved." Otherwise we would either have "none" which makes no sense for an active post or else they would show as being approved by the uploader which is silly. So in short, never mind that. In any case it is only of interest to users involved in the moderation process.
The reason why I suggested it was because I saw images, badly tagged and wondering "who approved this?", but as we already discussed, if a contributor+ uploads them, he doesn't need approval/it's already approved. I just oversaw that and now be both wasted our time for discussing my stupidity!
And an addition to the statistics. I thought it would be intresting to see who is cleaning how much. But these statistics aren't intresting for the most people anyways.
I'm sure it's probably not possible, but thumbnails for flash would be nice.

Can we get something similar? It looks so clean! With the new tag relations we could probably sort the general tags into groups too?
I thought it looked uglier that way.
Sorting the general tags by relation is an interesting idea... not sure it is practical but we said that about other stuff before and then went ahead and did it all.
Thumbnails for Flash is almost certainly not possible, unfortunately.
Something various people have been asking for is back - the post count for your present search is displayed at the top of the page with the tags.
We're not reintroducing the old style pagination at present, and there are performance compromises to keep it speedy in that it will not provide counts for searches involving only meta and mega-tags

I agree, it also takes up more space and is harder to look through, in my opinion.

Ooh, very nice.
Can we get (+) and (-) tags when searching, to quickly add a relevant tag to the search like on other boorus and shimmies?
No. Use the advanced search drop down and autosuggest. We are aiming to be anti-clutter and not to use obscure interface features all over the place, and millions of "+" links most users likely never use are an example of this.
Drag and drop tags was something I thought of to address this sort of issue, but it would require a radical UI reworking to be obvious.
On hover links to + and - tag searches might be an option.
Can votes also be transferred after deleting a duplicate, like favourites do?
Edit: Also any ideas to prevent word-wrap with tags? I don't like it: http://i.imgur.com/51h6kEv.png
It is possible but I think it risky as in some cases you may be transferring votes posts which are slightly different. With favorites people deserve to have them kept intact but with votes I doubt they care and it is just a matter of valid ratings.
Remaining word-wrap issues generally require the attentions of a CSS magician it seems. A similar issue is present with the autosuggest and tag indexes at times.

1 year agoWouldn't you be better off using "find similar" to gather them and catch the ones which may not have artist tags? There is a convenience link on the parent field now.
