Which one of these should be deleted? the bigger one Post #4985719 or smaller one Post #3801478? both have different Source the big one is from Nijie the small one is from Pixiv.

As has been said before: bigger file size is better. You can read the first page of this topic about it.

I thought so too but the bigger one was deleted and the smaller one was restored by Steinkauz. I wanted a second opinion.

I did that, because the pixiv source was available, and the other post had no source. But since you added the source from nijie, everythings good now. Sometimes pictures get bigger when reuploaded through different sited, the pixiv seemed to be the less corrupted, data-wise.

Albeit both of them are from de same size, isn't the one coming from an official source stay instead of those that come from patreon? Also, the first image was the one that System would have uploaded, so taht would make the second one a duplicate, isn't it?

The Patreon one was uploaded first. The only reason it was here before the Tumblr one was because I'm a supporter and I get notified whenever he posts new content there first :p

In addition, a bunch of Pokemon related images you've flagged are the superior version and I'm not going to unflag, properly tag the parent, and delete the correct one for each. Please take filesize into consideration as I also failed to do earlier.

From what I understand, the image that should stay on the site are the biggest ones. If it happens that there are two of the same pics, the one that shoould prevail are the ones that come from official sources like Pixiv, Nijie, Tumblr, NicoNico and blogs. If they come frome Twitter (like the ones I flaged), then they should be deleted unless they are bigger and better versions.
Correct me if I'm wrong please, but that's what I have learned according to how many of my pics have been deleted.

I usually keep the largest file and then change the source to the more official one :p

^Wow, that’s pretty weird. I’ll just delete the one with the smaller file size as per usual. In terms of quality they seem to be identical. By the way, don’t link the images directly (in the source field too), just link the page they’re on. Direct links get blocked by Pixiv if you haven’t previously visited the page.

Direct links for upload works perfecly, because sankaku use pixiv api. Probably.
Or other magic to grab from pixiv >_>

Edit: i discover even weirder things.
For example 1200*1200 preview/thumb may be bigger than original. But original have resolution slightly large than 1200. I just wondering, which image i should report then. Or upload.

And by slightly i mean 10-20-50 pixels or so.

Rarely. For that 10–50 pixels difference thing, can you show some examples? I’d go for the larger resolution image, but not sure.

Mine was uploaded first and came from an official source. Also it has the same quality as the one that was left (though the size differs). I flagged that one because of that reason.

After looking at both posts, your's has artifacts, while the other one has not, so I think the deletion is right, while the reasoning was wrong.

How can you notice if some image has artifacts or not?
