They're actually "Loose Socks" (that's the actual name, which kinda surprised me when I first heard it). Leg Warmers aren't socks.

I believe this is a reference to manga Volume 9's extras.
The manga's volumes always have a "fake" preview of the next volume (followed by the actual preview), and in Volume 9, Mikasa is an idol called "Mikarin". :P
